From the Verandah View Newsletter

The mission of Sew & Sews is to make a variety of handmade items to donate to nonprofits. Did you know there is a second part to our mission statement? It is to provide a positive social and volunteer experience to our members. 

While doing for others, friendships are made among people from all neighborhoods in Verandah with backgrounds from many countries around the world. 

Members bring new neighbors and by the end of the meeting, they’ve made new friends. More than once, I’ve been told that several women worked on the same blanket and “solved the problems of the world” by the end! Long-lasting friendships have been made. 

If you’d like to make some new friendships, come to a Sew & Sews’ meeting and help others while meeting new people. After receiving your Sew & Sew’s apron, everyone will know your name. 

Meetings are two Fridays a month year round, from 9-11:30 a.m. in the River House Dining Room.
